On December 31 at 8pm I was at a desolate train station near Guangzhou, in the south of China. No train, no wireless, no food, but lots of good wishes in my head from friends and family. In good Chinese fashion I wish you all 恭喜发财, or gōngxǐfācái, which means I hope you will have a happy and prosperous new year.
